Óscar Horta

Activist in defense of animals and member of the Animal Ethics Foundation. He is also a professor of moral philosophy at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Likewise, he has been a visiting researcher at different universities in the United States, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Portugal and Denmark, as well as at the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology. In 2007 he won the Ferrater Mora Essay Prize. He has been involved in the cause of animals since the early 1990s, participating in various organizations and in a large number of campaigns and activities in various countries. He has also published dozens of works on this issue, including articles and books, as well as specialized studies in prestigious international media such as The Journal of Applied Philosophy, Global Policy, Theoria, Law, Ethics and Philosophy, Between the Species, Moral Philosophy and Politics, The Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics or the International Encyclopedia of Ethics. He is the author of the blog "Ethics beyond the species" and the book Un paso adelante en defensa de los animales.
