Ricardo Mairal

Rector of the UNED and professor of English Language and Linguistics in the Department of Foreign Philologies of the UNED since 2002. His teaching activity has focused on semantics, lexicology, syntax and linguistic theory. In addition, he has participated as a visiting professor in several doctoral programs at the universities of Córdoba, La Laguna, Castilla-La Mancha, Autónoma de Madrid, Valencia, La Rioja, Politécnica de Valencia, Autónoma de México and Pontificia de Chile, among others. and in the doctoral program in Linguistics at the Ortega y Gasset University Institute. Among several books of which he is co-author or co-editor in publishers such as Mouton de Gruyter, Cambridge University Press and Akal, he is co-author of the book Nuevas Perspectivas en Gramática Funcional (Ariel, 1999), a work awarded with the National Research in English Linguistics AEDEAN 1999) and Constructing a Lexicon of English Verbs (Mouton de Gruyter, 1999), which has received about 350 citations. Likewise, he is the author of more than fifty scientific articles that have been published in both national and international journals. He was co-founder of the research group LEXICOM (www.lexicom.es), which brings together a significant number of researchers from various national and international institutions. He has also been part of the editorial committee of prestigious journals such as Functions of Language, Atlantis and RESLA and has evaluated articles for Lingua, Langages, International Journal of Lexicography, Language Sciences and Cognitive Linguistics. He has been president of the Spanish Association of Applied Linguistics (2011-2017) and director of the ACTUALing Consolidated Research Group (2006-2011).
