Signing of a collaboration agreement with the Chirbes Foundation for the celebration of the Dénia Festival de les Humanitats

The president of the Rafael Chirbes Foundation, María José Micó, and the mayor of Dénia and president of the Dénia Creative City of Gastronomy Foundation of the Valencian Community, Vicent Grimalt, have today signed the agreement for collaboration between foundations in the Festival de les Humanitats, which is held in Dénia from October 27 to 29.
The foundation in honor of the Valencian writer will be involved in the parallel cultural activities of the so-called "Festival off". As a complement to the conferences of the Festival de les Humaniats, a series of cultural activities will be offered to the general public, ranging from street music or dance exhibitions to art exhibitions and talks.
October 25 is the day set aside to honor the figure of the writer. The activity will focus on the literary day "Chirbes Territory: life and literature of the Diaries of Rafael Chirbes". Located in the Municipal Public Library of Dénia, from 5:00 p.m. three conferences will be held around the figure of the author. The first, “Chirbes Territory: Keys to his writing”, will be given by the Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of León (ULe), Jacobo Llamas Martínez. Secondly, the Literary Studies researcher at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) will give a conference on the Valencian environment that inspired Chirbes with the name “(Re)writing the territory. The Valencian coast as a palimpsest in the narrative of Rafael Chirbes To conclude, the professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Valencia (UV) Javier Lluc-Prats will speak about the author's most personal literature at the conference "Writing the self in times of conflict: life and literature in the Diaries of Rafael Chirbes" .
The president of the foundation and niece of Chirbes, María José Micó, has highlighted the importance of paying homage to “one of the best Valencian writers of the 20th century”. For her part, the mayor has outlined "the satisfaction of being able to announce the signing of an agreement with the foundation for them to participate in programming."
The “Festival off” will be completed, during the week of October 24 to 29, with the conversations between Javier López Alós (PhD in Philosophy) and Vicent Botella (data analyst and academic) in the talk “Dialogues of proximity. Humanities and sciences in a changing world” (Monday 24, at 7:00 p.m., at the Municipal Public Library of Dénia); the opening of the exhibition “Autorretrato” by Amparo Sard (Wednesday 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the Center d'Art l'Estació) presented this year at the ARCO art festival in Madrid and which introduces the sense of touch in viewer experience thanks to 3D technology. In addition, the performance of students from the Tenor Cortis Conservatory and the Musical Artistic Group of Dénia (28 and 29 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. (also on the 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) on Calle Marqués de Campo ). While the Lindy Hop Marine School will hold a workshop and an exhibition in Plaça del Consell on Saturday 29, from 7 to 9 p.m.
